The Megger MCC1010 1000A AC Current Clamp is a handy accessory designed for use with Megger earth testers. It can measure AC current up to 1000A with accuracy of ≤3%, a maximum precision of 1mA, and a phase shift of ≤0.7˚ at full range, resulting in very reliable readings. It has a 1000:1 step-down ratio and is suitable for power, energy and power quality measurements in addition to leakage current measurement. The magnetic core of the clamp jaws is made from a high-quality iron-nickel alloy which contributes to this excellent performance.
In addition to earth testers, the Megger MCC1010 is also compatible with instruments such as power quality analysers, oscilloscopes, motor testers, data loggers and multimeters, thus enabling attached rod technique and stakeless testing. The clamp will measure current in a single phase of an installation and has a large jaw capable of clamping around a cable with a diameter of up to 52mm.
Notably, the MCC1010 can be used when completing resistance measurements as long as it is paired with the Megger MCV1010 as the former will induce a current and the latter will measure the voltage drop.
The Megger MCC1010 is rated to Cat IV 600V and protects the output terminals with a voltage limiting circuit, thus ensuring that the clamp is safe to touch in all rated circumstances. It has widely compatible 4mm shrouded connections.
